Shram Mandir Leprosy Rehabilitation Center

Leprosy is a crippling disease that leaves scars on the body, penetrating deep in the lives of the victims. Though most of North America is free from leprosy epidemics, India has the greatest number of cases, with Brazil second and Myanmar third. Seek the Horizon believes that India, Brazil and Myanmar too can be freed from the terrible disease.

This summer Seek the Horizon took volunteers to Shram Mandir Leprosy Rehabilitation Center in India. A haven for all those afflicted with leprosy, Shram Mandir makes a courageous effort to fight against the fear of this disease that deprives an individual of his work, family, dignity and happiness – taking away the true meaning of his life.

Seek the Horizon donated 10,000 rupees, or 250 dollars, to Shram Mandir. Every single year on January 2, each and every person afflicted with leprosy living in the rehabilitation center will receive fresh Indian snacks as well as medical treatment. Seek the Horizon also donated American Red Cross shirts to each patient in the center.
